How we repaired this crawl space with floor joist support and waterproofing
BACKGROUND:
The homeowner noticed that her floors were uneven and made a squeaky noise when she walked around her home. She also noticed a musty smell in the crawl space due to high humidity.
PROBLEM:
The floor system was suffering from a lack of support underneath the house causing a sag in the floor. The high humidity level also causes the floor joist to warp and bow. The crawlspace areas had no vapor barrier creating a high humidity climate.
SOLUTION:
Tri-State Waterproofing installed 18 crawl space power posts to lift the floor system back into place and give the floor joist extra support. A 12 mil vapor barrier was applied to the exposed dirt floor, columns, and walls that were below grade. A commercial-grade dehumidifier was installed in the crawlspace and set to keep the humidity level to 55%.
